Originally coming from Black Metal, Katatonia have always evolved in the course of more than three decades of band history, adding Death, Doom and Gothic as well as increasingly Progressive Rock elements to their music. Unchanged, however, is the mood of the songs, which are above all one thing: sad and gloomy! That's why their melancholic sound is also called Dark Metal.
