The name Dimmu Borgir is derived from Icelandic and means "dark mountains". The band sets the icy coldness of their home country Norway to music, whereby they have developed massively over the years and by adding keyboards or orchestras they put more and more emphasis on the bombastic component of their songs. Dimmu Borgir are not only the inventors of symphonic black metal, but also remain the standard for it!
