Death were one of the most important and formative death metal bands, and have influenced countless musicians in the death and extreme metal scene. Mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, who sadly died of a brain tumor in 2001, constantly developed his own style and provided the initially rather crude death metal of the early days with more and more technical refinement and progressive song structures. Although the band was disbanded after his death, the legend lives on to this day - no death, no death metal!
