Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Vulgar Display Of Power
After initially being a fairly conventional Judas Priest-influenced metal band, Pantera changed the entire metal world with their major debut "Cowboys From Hell." The revolutionary-sounding power drumming of Vinnie Paul (R.I.P.) and the razor-sharp staccato riffs of his brother Dimebag Darrell (R.I.P.) created a completely new, brutal sound that went down in music history as groove metal. Added to this was the almost intimidating presence of frontman Phil Anselmo (later of Down), who also set the style with his raw vocals. With "Vulgar Display Of Power" the band perfected their style. Hits like "Walk" still get every party going today! Currently a live reunion is planned with guitarist Zakk Wylde (ex-Ozzy, Black Label Society) and drummer Charlie Benante (Anthrax) as a replacement for the two deceased Abbott Brothers.
