Medieval and Folk Merchandise for all little knights and damsels
Music of the Middle Age scene, also known as medieval market music or medieval alternative, is music that has been influenced by medieval markets since the 1980s. The music does not refer to the historical music that was heard in the Middle Age, but lyrically deals with this period and uses its historical instruments. It is primarily intended for entertainment and not to reproduce authentic music from the Middle Ages.
The music of the medieval scene is stylistically diverse and ranges from folk music with singing, stringed instruments, harps, flutes, crumhorns, shawms, hurdy-gurdies and other historical instruments to loud, rocking music with market bagpipes and davuls.
The music of the medieval scene today can be divided into two main styles, from which various sub-genres emerge, with fluid transitions. The first is the "folkloric style" whose music is based on the medieval scene and its minstrels. The songs are often cheerful and entertaining. For the background music mostly instruments of Renaissance music are used.
On the other hand there is the "bagpipe-rock style". To this musical style belongs of course a bagpipe, which is supported by other percussion and wind instruments. This music likes to be a little bit more lumbering and it is quite common that the costumes are not historically accurate but simply for entertainment.
