After guitarist Dave Mustaine left Metallica in 1983, he formed his own metal band Megadeth. The band is considered the pienier of the trash metal movement in America, which eventually brought the music genre to Europe. Together with Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer they belong to the "Big Four" of Trash Metal. The band has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, of which five consecutive albums have been awarded platinum once or several times. Apart from success, singer and guitarist Dave Musaine remained the band's only constant, as the line-up actually changed in album time. Many blame the difficult personality of the band leader, who at the time was also responsible for his leaving Metallica. Because the excessive lifestyle often stood in the way of the music. For example, they invested half the budget for their debut album in alcohol instead of a producer. The music turned out well anyway and the album laid the foundation for the band's successful career. Many legendary albums and tours around the world followed.
Megadeth - the rocky road back to the top
In the period up to the turn of the millennium, there was no way around Megadeth in the metal landscape. However, Dave Mustaine's excessive lifestyle left its mark, he relapsed after a kidney stone operation and suffered a very unusual injury, as a result of which he was unable to use his left hand and play guitar. He subsequently disbanded Megadeth in 2002. After a long struggle, however, he managed to regain the use of his hand and to teach himself to play the guitar completely. As a result, the band reunited in 2004. The comeback album "The System Has Failed" was a bombshell. Since then, the band is back in business completely, playing concerts and releasing new albums. Their strength and stamina were also rewarded with a Grammy Award in 2017. After being nominated eleven times, the band won the coveted award for the first time in the category Best Metal Performance. The history of the band continues and we are curious to see what the future will bring.
