Soundgarden Merchandise for rocker kids
Like many other rock stories, Soundgarden's career also started in Seattle. The only thing they have in common with their local colleagues from Pearl Jam and Nirvana is the rough musical classification, as their sound was more metal from the beginning.
The band was named after a sculpture in Magnuson Park in Seattle. After their first gigs on local radio and samplers, Soundgarden quickly attracted the attention of major labels. Their extremely explosive mixture of alternative rock and metal was positively received by fans of both camps and the band quickly gained a loyal fan base. Their major debut was a success and was received positively by all sides. Unfortunately, "Nevermind" by Nirvana was released at the same time, whose surprise success put everything else in the shade. The band also played more and more live, and as support band for Guns' N' Roses they toured extensively throughout the States. Then it was finally time for the big breakthrough. The single "Black Hole Sun" was played on all channels and radio stations in a continuous loop. The accompanying album "Superunknown" was awarded with almost everything there is to award in the music industry.
Soundgarden Comeback stronger!
After the following tours, Soundgarden decided to break up the band in 1997. With time the waves had calmed down and so the band returned in 2010 after 12 years of abstinence. With fresh music they made up for what many fans had been waiting for over a decade. Among others a Rock Am Ring gig with only 16 years delay. After the sudden death of singer Chris Cornell the band decided not to continue in 2018 and closed the chapter of Soundgarden forever.
